Recalculating The Gender War

Examining the false statistics that demonize men and terrorize women. Additional commentary on men's human rights and feminism.

On September 24, the UN released a reported entitled “Cyber Violence Against Women & Girls: A Worldwide Wake-Up Call”. I’m still reading the report, but it seems like another UN attempt to create a feminist panic. They appear to be seriously equating a mean tweet or Youtube comment (which you are free to ignore or block) to physical assault. Their suggested solution to this supposed epidemic of “cyber-violence” is for governments to censor the internet! This is traditionally (and rightfully) considered the act of a tolitarian state.

This was already enough to draw criticism from those concerned about free speech. However, the UN added fuel to the fire by involving Zoe Quinn and Anita Sarkesian with their campaign. This attracted the attention of #GamerGate, which quickly criticized and mocked the report.

#GamerGate has created a golden opportunity to finally hold the UN accountable for its toxic feminist ideology which has literally been enshired in the UN system. However, to do that #GamerGate and others need to realize that UN’s feminism goes way beyond a single report on “cyber-violence”. The UN’s feminism negatively affects every aspect of the U.N., including important UN food and medical aid.

I’ve written several posts about the dangerous brand of ideological feminism at the UN. I especially recommend the first post, which explains everything I’m talking about in greater detail with quotes from UN literature:

Will UN discriminate against men affected by the Nepal Earthquake like it did Haiti?

The short version: UN has become a feminist missionary organization

This is not hyperbolia, but the result of a official UN policy known as “gender-mainstreaming”. It would be one thing if UN Woman was simply allowed to rant about patrichary, while the rest of the UN got on with curing disease and stopping famines, but this is not the case. “Gender mainstreaming” basically means that all (and I mean all) UN organizations, programs and actions must account for “gender equality.” UN Women is given the ulimate authority to decide what this actually means, who is/isn’t in compliance and what they need to do to account for “gender equality”. UN Women has essentially been given almost complete control over the UN system.

The UN’s understanding of gender equality is very influenced by its own gender politics, which are very feminist. UN feminism is not inoffensive “equity feminism” or even ignorant “coffee-shop feminism”. UN feminism is bigoted anti-male ideological gender feminism. UN literature often includes references to the questionable feminists notions of patrichary theory (the idea that men as a class universially oppress women as a class) and “toxic masculinity” (the idea that social constructions of masculinity have/continue to make men in general oppress women):

Remember this affects all UN organizations. Guess what prominent UN organization wrote this:

“Gender relations in many contexts are relations of inequality and injustice. There is a widespread pattern of male privilege and female disadvantage. They exist in which men, as a group, enjoy institutional privileges at the expense of women, as a group.” (10)

Answer: The World Health Organization in a report entitled Policy approaches to engaging men and boys in achieving gender equality and health equity. The WHO is no longer focused on battling disease epidemics, but (like every UN organization) now concerns itself with gender politics. The WHO report continues:

Changing men’s harmful attitudes and roles is a crucial element in reconstructing gender relations.3 Men and masculinities are directly involved in the maintenance of gender inequalities. Some men play a crucial role as ‘gatekeepers’ of the current gender order through their responsibilities as decision-makers and leaders within their families and communities. They may participate in sexist practices and maintain unjust gender relations by perpetrating violence against women (and subordinate men), controlling women’s reproductive and familial decision-making, limiting women’s access to and control over family and community resources and political power, or espousing patriarchal beliefs and norms that allow other men to engage in such actions. More broadly, patterns of gender injustice are tied to social constructions of masculinity – to the meanings given in any particular society to being a ‘man’, the identities and social relations associated with these, and the social organization of men’s lives and relations.” (11) [EMPHASIS ADDED]

Other seemingly apolitical UN aid organizations also encourage aid workers to view and change gender relations along feminist lines. None of this is just empty talk either. According to the World Food Program’s Gender Policy:

“WFP will therefore collaborate with partners25 to further use school feeding as an entry point to promote gender equality during children’s formative years” (11).
“WFP will make it mandatory to incorporate a gender perspective into operations at all stages of a project cycle. WFP assessment tools will be revised accordingly to support this process.” (13)

UN’s feminist ideology negatively affects UN’s ability to respond to crisis

In addition to transforming the UN into a feminist missionary organization, the UN’s feminist ideology negatively affects its response to global crises. The UN often decides that women must be unnecessarily prioritized in situations where men may be similiarly or even more affected. Read what aid worker Sandra Uwantega Hart had to write about her first hand experience with the UN’s women-only food aid program in Haiti following the 2010 Earthquake:

Drawing from a gender policy intended to encourage women’s empowerment, the World Food Programme conducted “women-only” food distributions in Port-au-Prince, resulting in high tensions between female recipients of food aid, men marginalized from the process and subsequently, in violence against female beneficiaries. At distributions, the tense separation between Haitians men’s and women’s entitlement to food was palpable - with women, policed by male military escorts at the interior of distribution points and crowds of men at the exterior screaming for admittance and in some cases storming entrance gates for a chance to equal access. The result: a physical space fraught with the tension of gendered exclusion characterized by differing entitlements to food. In a very real way, these women were implicated in a highly visual process of social exclusion, in a context where vulnerability was acute for both male- and female-headed houses.“ (362) [EMPHASIS ADDED]

Western news media largely didn’t report on the UN balant gender discrimination in Haitian food aid. Those that did were either neutral or portrayed it positively. Who knows how many other instances of gender discrimination by UN aid organizations are hidden by media ambalevance or the fog of the 3rd world?

Hold the UN Accountable

I want #GamerGate and others to know that this ridiculous "wake-up call” to “cyber violence” against women and girls is the tip of much larger, more dangerous iceberg. An iceberg many in the 1st world don’t see because the media doesn’t report on it and we don’t have to suffer UN feminist indocrination because we don’t rely on UN food/medical aid. You think feminists threatening to censor the internet is bad? How about feminists controlling your food supply? You think Sarkessian is annoying now? Wait till she is declared a UN Gender Champion (real UN title) or gets involved in UN “gender audits” (real thing the UN does to governments and organizations).

The UN had the potential to be one of the greatest apolitical forces for good on the planet. It’s corruption by ideological feminism may be one of the greatest ongoing humanitiarian crisis of our age.

I would love it if #GamerGate did what it has always done - shine a light on the corruption that the media has ignored. I just want them to shine the light a little wider. The UN’s report on “cyberviolence” is merely the symptom of a larger disease.

The UN increasingly appears to be one big feminist hugbox where far-fetched bigoted statements about “toxic masculinity” go unchallenged. A lot of this is hidden in plain sight, even tweeted out by @UN and @UN_Woman. But if people start to draw attention to what the UN is actually doing and saying, the public may start paying attention.

The UN is funded by donations from individuals and from member nations (which are taken from your tax dollars). They should be accountable to the people.
